Hello all, *Please treat the information in this email as confidential, as we have not announced any of it yet.* Thank you for taking the time to let us know your availability and willingness to teach online or in person for BCC2020. Only 5% of respondents indicated they weren't wiling to teach the content remotely. Another 20% weren't eager, but might be willing to try online teaching. And the remaining 75% gave an unqualified "yes" as their answer. The organizers met today, *and BCC2020, including training, will be offered online*. We are still figuring out many (maybe most?) of the details, but we will make this happen. What does this mean to you? *1. Please let us know if you just aren't interested in teaching online. * We will drop you as an instructor and/or drop the topic you were presenting. *We are OK with that.* We already know that one of you is not interested. *Please note: We will likely be recording training sessions. If you aren't comfortable with that, then please decline as well.* *2.Think about how presenting online would change your training methods and material* Can as much material be covered? Does some material just not work online? What might work better? *3. Think about what conference organizers can do to better support online training, and then let us know.* One thing we are already considering is comping registration for more instructors per session, making more people available to help participants one on one, when they hit trouble. *4. Share your insights, resources, concerns, plans, ...* We already have this mailing list. And now we have a gitter channel too: https://gitter.im/bcc2020/Instructors (This channel is currently public, but we may make it private at some point...) Thanks again for everything, and looking forward to this new adventure, Dave C on behalf of the BCC2020 organizers On Tue, Mar 17, 2020 at 9:52 AM Dave Clements <clementsgalaxy@gmail.com> wrote:
Hello BCC2020 Instructors,
The BCC2020 Organizers are actively considering options for BCC2020 and we might make a decision as early as this Thursday, March 19. To help us do that, we would like to know your preferences on how you would like to, or are willing to, present training at BCC2020.
Please take 2-3 minutes to tell us if you are still interested <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSelmiRlUalh4HNomVlQ3-jr2TWjMnJz3RoLkYHKdXgSn4RuJw/viewform> in presenting in person, or online, or not at all. Any and all responses are acceptable.
Thanks again for your interest in presenting training to the BCC community.
Dave C, on behalf of the BCC2020 Organizers
