Hi Suzan, Just to double check - for this value
Username: My galaxy Username
You are entering your email address, correct? Not the user name that shows up on Pages, etc. Galaxy credentials are email & password for FTP. It doesn't look like you are using SFTP, which would be a problem, but double check that anyway. The firewall block suggested by Ryan is also good to follow up on. Your system administrator should be able to help you determine if these are issues. If you are a unix user, line command ftp is an option, you do not have to use a client like Cyberduck or FileZilla. It goes something like this: your_computer$ ftp main.g2.bx.psu.edu Connected to bigsky.bx.psu.edu. 220 ProFTPD 1.3.4a Server (Galaxy Main Server FTP) [::ffff:128.118.250.4] Name (main.g2.bx.psu.edu:<local_user_name>): enter_email_here 331 Password required for <your_email> Password: enter_password_here 230 User <your_email> logged in Remote system type is UNIX. Using binary mode to transfer files. ftp> Use lcd to move around your computer or just start from the place where your data is. Use put or mput to transfer files. Google online tutorials for more commands/syntax. Good luck! Jen Galaxy team On 8/14/12 9:10 AM, suzan katie wrote:
Hello everyone,
I am trying to upload files (size:6GB) via ftp and i am using FileZilla for ftp upload of files.
Host/usernames and password details as follows:
Host: main.g2.bx.psu.edu <http://main.g2.bx.psu.edu> Username: My galaxy Username Password: Galaxy password
I found this tutorial for FTP upload. http://screencast.g2.bx.psu.edu/quickie_17_ftp_upload/flow.html
I am getting an error message: Could not connect to server Status: Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
Is there any other method followed for ftp file upload?
Any help or advice is appreciated
Thanks
Suzan
