Hi guys; I was wondering how you are addressing the issues associated with compression;/decompression. We are using galaxy and instead it is inflating our raw storage budget by 500%. This is a major issue and we are trying to figure out how it can be fixed within the Galaxy framework. Any ideas? -- Dennis Gascoigne 0407 639 995 dennis.gascoigne@gmail.com

Hi Dennis, Since so many of the tools interfaced by Galaxy expect data uncompressed, this is how we must store the data. The solution we've implemented for this on our public servers is to use Solaris/OpenSolaris as a file server so that we can make use of ZFS's whole-filesystem compression features. --nate
Any ideas?
