Getting data from a database to create a dynamic combo box
Hi, I need to create a combo box that will take data from a database dynamically. How could I do this? Thank you
Hi Ramon, depends a little bit on what you mean with 'dynamically'. I have some wrappers that may be interesting for you: https://github.com/bgruening/galaxytools/tree/master/chemicaltoolbox/pgchem/... Basically, you can choose the Database/Scheme dynamically and the SQL query is also constructed dynamically. Cheers, Bjoern

Ok. In fact I need that the combo box of my tool uses items from a database, then whenever someone accesses the combo box items should be updated as I have in the database, so dynamically it may be that every time the user accesses the tool there are new options in the combo box to choose it.

Hi, that can be tricky I guess. What you can always do is to write your own data_source application. Basically, you write your own small webpage with all the magic you need and only transfer the data you need. Like the UCSC genome browser. A really small example can be found here (without SQL): https://github.com/bgruening/galaxytools/tree/master/chemicaltoolbox/data_so... Hope that helps, Bjoern

Hi Ramon You need to provide the code you have written and the error messages you get. Otherwise, it is very difficult for the community to help you. Regards, Hans-Rudolf On 08/16/2013 03:43 PM, Ramon Tiburski wrote:
