Dear all

With apologies for the inevitable duplication caused by posting to multiple lists, the abstract submission and registration deadlines for our exciting new conference, 'Lifelong Learning in the Biomedical Sciences' , will close on 6 June 2016. Please register now to avoid disappointment. We'd also be immensely grateful if you could help to spread the word around your own networks. Many thanks in advance for your help!

Best

Cath

We all know that competent scientists, who are committed to staying at the leading edge of developments in their field and constantly improving their professional skills, are the underlying foundation of successful research and development; yet research infrastructures and other research organisations invest comparatively little time in developing their staff.

On behalf of the organising committee I am writing to cordially invite you to attend the EMBL Conference on Lifelong Learning in the Biomedical Sciences.  This conference is a new international forum to bring together the key influencers, policymakers, trainers and stakeholders from academia, industry and the professional bodies who will shape and implement how career-long continuing professional development is managed in the future. It will encompass career-long continuing professional development for both the academic and industry sectors. The conference will take place in Heidelberg, Germany on 5-7 July 2016 (www.embl.de/training/events/2016/LLL16-01).

Participating in this conference will provide you with:

  • insight in the latest developments in education and training for biomedical professionals
  • an introduction to competency profiles as effective means to support recruitment and retention of key staff
  • means to empower your staff to manage their own continuing professional development (CPD)
  • opportunities to network with others with a passion for education and training in the biomedical sciences
  • a choice of interactive workshops to assist delegates to implement continuing professional development practices in their organisations or contribute to further discussions of conference topics

We invite you to submit your abstract and/or workshop proposal by 6 June 2016. General registration is also open until 6 June 2016. We are looking forward to your registration and to seeing you in Heidelberg!

Best regards

Cath

On behalf of the Organising Committee
