This is true,  "published" objects are available in a list format that is searchable.

Adding in a search feature to the page " Histories shared with you by others" is one possibility. Maybe. It might difficult to accumulate enough to make a search worth it.

Another option is to add in dataset permissions. Groups and/or roles can be set up by the instance administrator and then datasets assigned to these.

Libraries are other option, if the intention is to be sharing/importing data, as it reduces duplication. Security is a well-covered topic in our wiki:
