Hi Sarah,

Using the public Main server for workshops is not recommended, however a Cloudman Galaxy is a great option. Amazon has a teaching grant program to help with funding that is very generous (Galaxy is free! grant is for cloud resources data/compute).

For next time, here is the link to get started:
http://usegalaxy.org/cloud

Please let us know if we can help more when setting up, the galaxy-dev@bx.psu.edu list is good for cloud support questions,

Best,
Jen
Galaxy team

Hi there!

I am teaching a workshop in East Africa, right this second, and we are trying to use a tool in galaxy (not too complex, files are not huge) to illustrate RNA-seq analysis.  The server is SOOOOOOO slow-- is there a problem?  Should we abandon ship and teach them Tophat using the command line?  Please advise, at your earliest convenience-- I have a room full of impatient newbie hackers ;)

Thank you!
