Hi, I'm puzzled once more due to the following: * I have an admin account and only one role, which has the same name as my account * Went to the admin page and created a library * Added a file as a dataset to this library * Set permissions so that I am allowed to do anything with both the library as well as with the single item in that library (hence my role is in the various "Roles associated" lists) * When I go to the libraries page, I can see the library, but not the item in it. * If I now move my role for access to the library item to the list of "Roles not associated", click save and go back to the libraries page: * Tada! I can see the library item and add it to my history... works for me, but is rather counter intuitive... Hello Pieter, There are 3 permissions at the "library" level: "modify library item", "add library item", and "manage library permissions", and these are considered "grant" privileges ( i.e., if your private role is associated with the permission, you are allowed to perform certain functions. These 3 library permissions are automatically inherited downward in the library hierarchy ( e.g., new added folders and datasets will have the same permissions ). In addition to these 3 permissions, there are 2 more permissions associated with library datasets: "manage permissions" ( also a "grant" privilege ), and "access", which is restrictive. The "access" permission is considered restrictive because a user must have a role associated with that permission or belong to a group that is associated with that permission in order to access the dataset in the library. From your description, I understand that you associated your "private role" with the "access" permission on the dataset, and no other roles were associated with the same "access" permission on the dataset. Is this correct? If so, I am not able to reproduce the same behavior. Perhaps it is a browser refresh issue? If you are switching back and forth between the "Admin" view of the library and the "Libraries" view of the library, there may be some caching occurring, and perhaps the "Libraries" view doesn't know you have the "access" privilege due to the caching. If you can reproduce this behavior with the latest build, please let me know - I'll need more information if possible so that I can reproduce it at my end. Hi Greg, I updated to the latest version today and can no longer reproduce this behaviour :). Cheers, Pi On 7•Jul•2009, at 10:22 PM, Greg Von Kuster wrote:
