Is it possible to use ACE or some other type of in line editor to modify files in Galaxy? Like if we had a tool that accepted as a parameter a file written in a homegrown modeling language, is there any way to update that file without downloading and re-uploading? Has anyone seen or done anything like this? Thanks, Isaac Knoflicek IT Manager - Laboratory of Genetics University of Wisconsin - Madison
Hello, There isn't a file editor per se, but the tools in the group "Text Manipulation", "Filter and Sort", and " Join, Subtract and Group" can often be used to modify files. You can also add in a few lines using the "Upload File" tool by just typing in text into the entry box. This become a dataset that you can work with using the above tools to add to your existing data (add a few lines that you filtered out - in effect replacing them, etc). Once you work out a process that modifies your files, save that into a workflow for future use if it is something you will be doing again, to avoid repetitive work. Hopefully this helps, Jen Galaxy team On 9/27/13 1:31 PM, Isaac Knoflicek wrote:
