Hi all,
I see that https://biostar.usegalaxy.org is live now, with lots of content mined from the galaxy-user mailing list (which may or may not result in this email starting a new question? We shall see...).
Is it possible for an admin to merge accounts? e.g. there are all me:
https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/u/333/ - old ISP based email address https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/u/337/ - old ISP based email address https://biostar.usegalaxy.org/u/394/ - my Google mail address
Thanks,
Peter

In answer to my own question, apparently accounts cannot be merged: https://biostar.galaxyproject.org/p/7287/
This surprises me as on BioStars administrators could merge accounts.

Hi Peter,
Correct, we are not set up for that now. And as the "Getting Started" note states, if this changes or when there enhancements in general, we'll notify all. This is just the first roll-out!
Everyone should just have one usegalaxy.org (Main) account. Entering Galaxy Biostar from Main, including prior posts to the galaxy-user list, and allowing direct login are initial configuration goals. The scope for usage support has been opened up for all of Galaxy's users across platforms. Tool help is integrated. We launched with these as priorities.
For posts under different email addresses, you can still claim all of these under distinct accounts for now (merging was discussed during design, but the other critical priorities above were complex enough for the first version). Would you like to add to this forum post intended for feedback? (this is true for everyone with feedback): https://biostar.galaxyproject.org/p/7288/ This is a great way to discuss/vote on suggestions. We'll be reviewing and creating Trello tickets as appropriate.
We also know that some user's post to the mailing list with an alternate email address from what they use on usegalaxy.org (Main). Should these users wish to synch up Main with mailing list posts, the Main Galaxy account email address can be edited at any time under "User -> Preferences" (Just make sure it is valid/current! This change will trigger an account confirmation email). Email addresses are not viable to other accounts within Galaxy Biostar (https://biostar.galaxyproject.org), so privacy is maintained. I added this to "Getting Started" (https://biostar.galaxyproject.org/p/7287/) to make it clear for all.
Thanks Peter, we appreciate your thoughtful feedback and many contributions over the years,
Best,
Jen Galaxy team
