Dear CollaborationFest attendees,

You are receiving this email because you are registered to the GCC 2019 CollaborationFest and we are excited to have you onboard. Thank you for your interest, we've got over 110 people signed up and can't wait to see the outcomes of this talented community.

The CollaborationFest (CoFest) starts at 9am on Friday, 5th July, the day after the GCC2019 meeting, and features up to 4 days of collaborative work on projects that matter to open source bioinformatics. You can find more information about the CoFest and the GCC 2019 in general in the conference book.

CoFest participants coalesce around shared interests and address common challenges related to those interests. These clusters form before, at the beginning, and throughout CoFest. These clusters will be fluid and highly interactive with each other.

CoFest is a self-organizing event, in which the attendees (you) propose cluster ideas to work on. Then the attendees (also you) support these ideas by expanding and signing up for them. We typically get this process started before the event so we get to collaborating as quickly as possible.

For the first step, we would like to kindly ask you to propose some cluster ideas using the following form:

It's okay to want to work on multiple projects, not knowing what you want to work on, or change your ideas. It's also great if you already have a fixed plan about what to work on at CoFest. We're aiming to get ideas about what people want to do, who is willing to be a leader or co-leader within each of those ideas, and rough numbers with each. This will help us allocate space, direct people to the right locations, and identify where we can help with connecting people to projects. We'll continue to follow up over the next week with more emails on logistics and plans for CoFest as this all comes together.

Thank you all,

The CoFest organizers
