Hi Gordon,
Thanks very much for this. I can say that having pre-compiled binaries (amd64) makes life much easier. Cheers, Chris

Hello all,
I'm trying to make the integration of the fastx-tools easier for new installations of galaxy, I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions you might have.
Steps so far:
- new version that compiles cleanly on Ubuntu,CentOS,OpenSolaris,FreeBSD
- detailed compilation instructions for each operating system
- pre-compiled binaries for Linux, FreeBSD, OpenSolaris
The above are available here: http://cancan.cshl.edu/labmembers/gordon/fastx_toolkit/download_new.html
Remains to be done:
- Do the same for MacOS-X
- Update the XML files, probably remove "zcat" entirely.
- rewrite the instructions for "galaxy integration" - this is not required any more, because the XML files are now part of the galaxy repository.
Please let me know if you think of anything else.
thanks, -gordon
