I am not aware of anybody who made this kind of transition without running into all kind of problems. I suggest the following workaround:
- set up a new, independent Galaxy server using PostgreSQL. - transfer the histories you want to keep to the new server using the 'Export to File' option on the old server followed by the 'Import to File' option on the new server.
