Take a look at the item_tags API controller; you can manage (add/delete/show) history, dataset, and workflow tags using it. Having the ability to add tags using the API would be helpful of associating multiple histories to a particular project. So later, it would be easier to 'select' all the histories to perform a bulk action. Ie download all contigs.fasta from histories that tag with 'project_Ecoli_June20_2013'.
