Hi, On the left tool list panel of Galaxy website. On the top, there is a "options" button, when I click it, it shows a "Search Tools". How can I get it on my own local Galaxy server? On my local one, when I click "Options" button, the "Search Tools" button does not show up. Thanks

Tool search is compatible with Python 2.5 and greater, so it could be a problem with your Python version. If that's not the problem, perhaps there are some Javascript errors on the panel that are causing problems (make sure to look for errors in the panel/frame, not the page). Please let us know if you find any Javascript errors. Also, please reply-all so that this conversation (and others) are shared with and archived to the list. Thanks, J.
Hi, My python version is 2.4.3. That could be the problem. BTW, where is "panel/frame"? I did not find it. Thanks

Yes, that's the problem. You'll need to upgrade to Python 2.5 or higher to get tool search.

The main Galaxy interface has three iframe HTML objects: the tools menu, the history, and the workspace (middle frame). In Galaxy, we refer to these as panels; because each iframe has different source code and Javascript, you often have to look in a particular frame to find Javascript issues. That said, I'm confident that your problem is your Python version. Thanks, J.
Jeremy, I have observed the same. My python version is newer 2.6.4 (r264:75706, Dec 7 2009) so that should be ok. There are however javascript errors on win7x64 ie8. I paste the error details below (my translation from Dutch). These errors are there onload and the options link does not work at all. Any help appreciated. We had the same problem and didn't know what caused it. Good to know it's the Python version. On the get Galaxy site (http://bitbucket.org/galaxy/galaxy-central/wiki/GetGalaxy) it says: "Currently supported Python versions are 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6." Maybe it's time to drop 2.4 from that list.... Cheers, Pi
