I have uploaded some bam files to the public galaxy. I am working with a collaborator who has a Galaxy account. Both of us are new, inexperienced users. How can I give my collaborator access to my data?

In your case, you'll probably want to share a history with your collaborator. To share a history that you are viewing in this history panel (right panel), click on Options-->Share or Publish.
