Dear Galaxy Community,
We're excited to announce Galaxy 25.1 (December 2025), featuring major
interface improvements and powerful new capabilities.
Highlights:
Modern History List Interface - A completely redesigned card-based
layout makes managing your histories more visual and intuitive, with
advanced keyboard navigation and multi-select capabilities for
efficient bulk operations.
Sample Sheets for Workflows - Import data from external spreadsheets
(CSV, TSV, Excel) to configure complex workflow inputs. Workflow
authors can create templates with validation rules, making it easy to
organize datasets and metadata for batch processing.
Enhanced Tool Discovery - Find the right tools faster with our new
dedicated discovery interface featuring card-based displays, EDAM
ontology integration, favorites, and easy sharing.
Galaxy Charts Framework - Experience dramatically improved
visualization performance with our new framework. The flagship IGV.js
integration provides comprehensive genomic data visualization with
multi-track support for BAM, VCF, BigWig, BED, GFF, GTF, and CRAM
files.
Tool Credentials System - Tools can now securely access external APIs,
databases, and cloud services through integrated credential management
with vault-backed secret storage.
Additional Features - Recent downloads tracking, visual storage
expiration indicators, workflow editor search, redesigned user
preferences, and support for numerous new data types including
SpatialData, safetensors, and LAS/LAZ.
