GCC brings together researchers, developers, trainers, administrators, and community members from around the world for talks, training, collaboration, and CoFest. Hosting is an opportunity to welcome the Galaxy community to your institution, city, or region and help shape one of our most important annual events. Registration is still open for the Galaxy Training Academy 2026!

Hello Galaxy Community, This is a friendly reminder that registration is open for the Galaxy Training Academy 2026 (GTA2026), taking place May 18–22, 2026! The Galaxy Training Academy is a free, self-paced online training event for beginners and advanced learners who want to improve their data analysis skills in Galaxy and explore popular fields in bioinformatics. Over the course of the week, participants can work through training materials on their own schedule, with support from trainers and fellow learners available through Slack. This year’s program begins with an introduction to Galaxy, followed by the opportunity to explore track topics including Proteomics, Assembly, Transcriptomics, Single Cell, Microbiome, Machine Learning, Climate, Digital Humanities, From Zero to Hero with Python, and Variant Analysis. Because the event is asynchronous, you can participate from anywhere and learn at your own pace throughout the week. All you need is a browser and an account on one of the Galaxy servers registered for the event. This release includes several major new capabilities for Galaxy users, including ChatGXY, AI-assisted JupyterLite notebooks, Vintent for interactive data visualization, workflow completion actions, improved workflow error navigation, and a redesigned ToolShed landing page. Due to an error, the abstract submission portal closed earlier than intended last night, which may have prevented some community members from submitting before the deadline. To make sure everyone has a fair opportunity to submit, we have reopened the abstract submission portal through today, April 7, at 11:29 PM PT. If you were affected by the early closure, or were still planning to submit, we encourage you to take advantage of this extended window.
