Galaxy is offering a free, hands-on virtual tutorial as part of Gateways 2026! Join Tyler Collins and Ahmed Awan for AI-Native Science with Galaxy, a 90-minute session exploring how AI can support real-world computational research in Galaxy. SESSION DETAILS Tuesday, September 1, 2026 1:00–2:30 PM Virtual Free to attend Presented by Tyler Collins and Ahmed Awan What you'll do Participants will work through a complete metagenomic analysis while learning the fundamentals of Galaxy, including workflow construction, tool access, and reproducible analysis. Along the way, the tutorial will demonstrate AI capabilities built into Galaxy and available through external integrations, with a practical discussion of both what these tools can do today and where their limitations remain. No prior Galaxy experience is required. The session is designed for a mixed audience of scientists, developers, and educators. By the end of the session, participants will have hands-on experience running a metagenomic analysis in Galaxy and a grounded understanding of how AI assistance can fit into reproducible computational research. Hello Galaxy Community, This is a friendly reminder that registration is open for the Galaxy Training Academy 2026 (GTA2026), taking place May 18–22, 2026! The Galaxy Training Academy is a free, self-paced online training event for beginners and advanced learners who want to improve their data analysis skills in Galaxy and explore popular fields in bioinformatics. Over the course of the week, participants can work through training materials on their own schedule, with support from trainers and fellow learners available through Slack. This year’s program begins with an introduction to Galaxy, followed by the opportunity to explore track topics including Proteomics, Assembly, Transcriptomics, Single Cell, Microbiome, Machine Learning, Climate, Digital Humanities, From Zero to Hero with Python, and Variant Analysis. Because the event is asynchronous, you can participate from anywhere and learn at your own pace throughout the week. All you need is a browser and an account on one of the Galaxy servers registered for the event.
